Words are generally based on Norwegian, however they have arbitrary changes to make them easier to write. Generally these changes phoneticize to make the language more approachable for those who don’t understand beyond normal English latin letterings.

Other acceptable secondary languages to draw inspiration from: Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Icelandic – basically those stemming from Old Norse and/or North Germanic languages as a whole.

Character Naming

Many characters are named based upon their characteristics. If they are bold, deceitful, evil, intelligent, annoying, a wizard, etc. Once that is established, the word can be played with to make it sound better or easier to say (or less!). Examples:

wizard -> veiveseren -> veivesen

violent -> voldelig -> volde

annoying -> irriterende -> irrende

destroyer -> ødelegger -> ødeleg -> oudeleg

This can be used for family names, which can be easy if you simply determine a common literal thread of what that family has been historically, such as rich, miners, watchers of the stars, etc.

Is this language butchering? Yes. Does it sound pretty good? Yes. The biggest thing we’re looking for is a similar consistency with how we’re shorting/butchering, and, perhaps, from that something can be further developed into its own thing.
