DESCRIPTION

This garment comes in two varieties, each of which determine slightly different effects. Whenever a magical power of the robe is used, one of the stars upon it winks out of existence. Once all of the stars disappear, the robe becomes mundane with a faint magical aura. Each robe begins with 18+2d4 stars. The 18 base stars correspond with the planes in the Outer Sphere and Inner Sphere of the Great Beyond. The additional stars correspond to the current state of the Astral Plane’s connections to various demi-planes and varies each time a robe is crafted.

The first variety is gray and embroidered with small black stars. This robe provides the the following magical powers.

  • It enables the wearer to travel physically to the Astral Plane on command once per day as if using the plane shift spell. If on the Astral Plane, the wearer can then return to their plane of origin on command, also as per the plane shift spell. The return use of this ability consumes a star.
  • The wearer can create a floating star on command as per the Twilight Knife spell. Each use consumes a star.

The second variety is black and embroidered with small gray stars. This robe provides the following magical powers.

  • It enables the wearer to travel physically to the Astral Plane on command once per day as if using the plane shift spell. If on the Astral Plane, the wearer can then return to their plane of origin on command, also as per the plane shift spell. The travelling from the plane of origin consumes a star.
  • The wearer can cast magic missile on command as per the magic missile spell. The caster level is considered as the magic item creator’s caster level. Each use consumes a star.

If the robe is destroyed while it has at least 10 stars, it explodes in a burst of telekinetic force as per Burst of Force with a caster level of 13.
